How To Attach A Shirt Yoke
I’ve even already started making some cooler weather clothes which I hope to share with you very soon.
This week however is box packing week, which means my living room has been completely taken over and is now home to piles of fabric, fat quarters, packaging supplies and patterns. I’m still waiting on one more thing to be delivered for the Luxury boxes so if you could all pray to the postage gods that it arrives soon, that would be fab!
I’m afraid I have been totally rubbish at getting photos of my makes together so that I can show you what I’ve been up to. I have my dress from July’s Summer Garden Party box completely finished and ready to be photographed as well as the shirt I made during the Sewing Weekender, an autumn Coco top and a nearly finished Sew House 7 Tea dress to show you – just that pesky hem to do!
But I didn’t want to leave you with nothing this week so I thought I’d share with you a video tutorial I posted on YouTube a few weeks ago.
I had so many lovely comments on this video from people who had found attaching a shirt yoke really difficult but were now able to do it thanks to this video.
So if you’re planning any shirts or tops this autumn that require you to attach a yoke, have a look at this video. Once you get the hang of it I promise you it’s easy peasy, but it did take me a few attempts so don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t go right first time.
The beauty of this method is that there is no hand sewing to do in order to conceal the seams, it’s all done for you with our beautiful sewing machines. I’ve used this method on a number of patterns, all of which had different ways of doing it. I’m all for keeping things simple.
I hope you enjoy the video and learn a new technique and I will be back next week with the September box reveal!!
