June’s subscriber profile was with Ellie @ellieconnollyhandmade who signed up to the Classic box back in October. Read on to find out more about Ellie and her sewing journey.

Tell us about your sewing journey. When and how did you start sewing?

It all started from textiles at school, I remember staying in at break time to finish my cushion cover with so much enthusiasm and it was there my love for sewing began. Over the years I mainly focused on home furnishings, as I was too scared to use commercial patterns to make any clothes.

Then my daughter who loves rabbits really wanted a Peter Rabbit dress for her 5th Birthday, so I took a deep breath and bought a pattern.  Since then I haven’t looked back. Seeing how proud she was wearing it gave me the confidence to try other patterns, now two years later and I love making and wearing my clothes.

You have been subscribed to the Classic box since October 2020, what made you want to sign up?

It’s my birthday at the beginning of November and after a long year last year I decided to treat myself to an early birthday present. I had seen other people on Instagram doing their unboxing videos and I wanted some of that joy! The boxes have delivered just that too and I was so happy to be subscribed when we went into the last lockdown.

Do you have a favourite box since you started your subscription?

It’s a really hard choice but I love bold prints and just fell in love with the navy blue fruit salad print from February – I love the colours! Although a very close second was May’s wild side box, the fabric is devine and very me, I can’t wait to make a summer dress.

What is the best thing about receiving a monthly box of sewing goodies?

I love receiving happy post! The fabric and fat quarters are always gorgeous and every box I have received so far has inspired me! I now have so many lovely clothes in prints I sometimes wouldn’t have picked myself but absolutely love. I also love the matching thread and little goodies too, although with three children I don’t always get the sweet treats.

Do you have a favourite make from your subscription?

My favourite make is the ‘Lilly top’ from ‘If Kim Wore Clothes’ in the fruit salad poplin. The fabric is comfortable and vibrant but I’m now just praying for warmer weather to show it off. I also love my peppermint pocket skirt and get so many lovely compliments when I wear it!

Are you working on anything at the moment?

I’m currently working on a sage brush top using the mint green viscose from March and my children are keeping me busy making summer dresses for my daughters and some pyjama shorts for my son.
