A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

The February Box: Love Is Sweet

I definitely think giving yourself a little gift is so important, you totally deserve it! It makes me so happy to think that I’m sending you all a little box of love each month and this month is no different!

I am SO excited by these boxes, they’ve been planned since way before Christmas and I am so happy with them. I’ve already had some amazing feedback from those lucky ones that have already opened their boxes, which is always lovely to hear.

So, the reason these boxes have made me even more happy than usual (pretty hard to do)…

Oh Yes!! If you are on Instagram you can’t have failed to spot these absolutely beautiful pattern weights from Oh Sew Quaint, the sewing community has gone mad for them, and with good reason, just look at them. Every box has four of these gorgeous weights, two doughnuts and two macarons. I’ve tried them out and they really do bring a little bit of extra joy to cutting out your fabric. Not only that but Danni has also included a 15% discount code for every SewHayleyJane customer to spend in her shop before 31/03/17 which is so exciting. I’ve got my eye on her brand new pastel fondant fancies!

Ok, I could talk about these pattern weights for ever, but there’s so much goodness in the boxes this month to talk about, so let’s start with the Luxury Box. The fabric this month is a perfect match to the them, it’s called ‘He Loves Me’ and it’s a plum coloured voile from Art Gallery Fabrics. Hand’s up if you ever picked the petals off a daisy as a child chanting ‘he loves me, he loves me not…’. This fabric is gorgeous, it comes in at 52″ wide and has beautiful drape. As always the box also has a reel of matching Gutermann thread.

The pattern included in the box is the stunning Juliette Tie-Back Blouse from Simple Sew. The boat neck, floaty sleeves and tie that nips in the waist makes it a super flattering and feminine style. Made in the AGF voile would be a gorgeous top to wear out for dinner (in keeping with the theme this month here!)

Each box this month also contains a beautiful wheel of pearl-headed pins, of which you can absolutely never have too many, and a selection of braids, trims, ribbons and cords. These can be used as embellishments on your projects, as bag or apron straps or to edge pillows and cushion covers. The extra little treat this month is a little pack of love hearts to enjoy whilst you sew.

The Classic and Mini boxes this month come with a length of gorgeous black viscose fabric. Oh my goodness, there are so many stunning garments you can make with this fabric. But having spent a significant amount of time searching for the perfect little black dress to suit me and my curves I cannot wait to make myself a date night dress, I’m seeing either a wrap or 1940’s tea style.

Of course, let’s not forget those lovely fat quarters. This month we have a selection of pink and white prints, so pretty. I have something very particular in mind for using mine this month, which I will be sharing on the blog next week, as well as some inspiration for using your main fabric so if you’re stuck for ideas be sure to check back then. The fat quarters should be hand washed cool and left to drip dry, I will test this out as I think the only reason you’d need to hand wash is to stop the colours running. I don’t have a tumble drier though so I am unable to test the drip drying bit.

For now though, let’s just have one last look at those gorgeous pattern weights. Have a lovely weekend everyone!
