Over The Rainbow
So I’ve been channeling my inner Judy Garland this month – albeit with sunglasses and sunscreen because these boxes are bright!!!
I’ve gone full on rainbow brights this month all thanks to the gorgeous patches designed especially for SewHayleyJane that have gone into the Classic and Luxury boxes. I got in touch with Emma from Em Makes & Bakes a few months back to find out if she was interested in working on something together. I’ve followed Emma on Instagram for a few years and she recently started designing and selling her own range of patches, pouches, bags and prints. In fact her “Dream Big Little One” print was the first thing I bought for Mia’s nursery!
So I was thrilled when she said she was up for a collaboration. I’d toyed with a rainbow themed box for a while so when Emma came back to me with a similar idea it was meant to be! I love that it also has a slight nod to a mindful sewing approach with the slogan “One Stitch at a Time”.
So, What did I put in the rest of the boxes? Well…
Luxury Box
I am loving this knitted effect stripe cotton jersey from Girl Charlee – although trying to decide what colour thread to pair with it presented a slight challenge! It’s a lovely, light-weight jersey – perfect if your already thinking ahead to your summer makes. I am considering a simple tube-style maxi skirt.
The fabric is perfect, however, for the pattern included this month from Pipe Dream Patterns. This is a real “bang for your buck” pattern as you can essentially get 6 different styles out of it. Choose from a sweater, dress or bodysuit and then mix things up with either a round scoop neck or a rolled cowl collar. I was so excited to include one of Joann’s patterns in the boxes as she is one of our subscribers alumni!
Classic and Mini Boxes
Oooh this is some bright fabric. This gorgeous gorgeous cotton batik is made by specialist craftsmen so there is some variation in patterns and colours throughout the fabric which just makes it all the more beautiful and exciting. My mum even snapped up some of the remnants to sew herself the first garment she’s made in years! I love the way the rainbow colours almost peep out from behind the blue background!
The fat quarters have me dreaming of floating into the clouds in hot air balloons and being almost able to touch the rainbows! They are so sweet and would make some perfect room accessories if you have any little ones in your life.
As well as the thread every box has a rainbow selection of buttons and I think I even nailed it with this months sweet treat – Rainbow Drops!
