Sew Rebellious

Last months boxes were pink, girly and all things pretty… this month the boxes are rebelling and turning to all things punk, grunge and a little bit Vivienne Westwood inspired.
As a college student in 2006 no outfit was complete for me without a checked scarf, black band t-shirt, wide legged jeans covered in safety pins and chains and ideally a pair of New Rock boots. And music was everything!
Fast forward nearly 20 years and whilst the New Rocks have long gone and the only need for a safety pin in my outfit is an outfit emergency, I still love a little nod to the grunge in me.

Luxury Box
The fabric in this months Luxury Box is a gorgeous Rowan seersucker from Fabric Godmother in black and blue. This is such a versatile fabric, make it into a dress, a skirt, a pair of trousers or a shirt… the options are endless! But this month I have paired it with the new Aulio pattern from Named Clothing, a fab pair of wide legged trousers that you are going to be reaching for all summer long.

The Classic and Luxury boxes this month also include from Petra Boase a “Mix Tape” iron on patch – perfect on a denim jacket or bag, keep it simple and iron it onto a pocket as a feature or go all out and add it to a collection of patches on the back of a jacket for retro vibes.
The supplementary fabric this month is simple but oh so useful! A plain black viscose challis that would work amazingly on its own as a cami or paired with another fabric for a colour blocking or patchwork style. It would also work great as a lining fabric for so many projects.

Classic and Mini Boxes
Sticking with the gingham theme the Classic and Mini boxes include a polyviscose in either pink and blue or yellow and blue. Again, such a versatile fabric, turn it into a skirt, a shirt, a dress or a funky pair of trousers – so many options.
Every box also contained a cute little set of gold safety pins as well as 100m reel Gutermann thread and of course our signature mini magazine full of inspiration and ideas for your next project.
