Sewing Nightwear
This month’s supplementary fabric – a lovely, delicate, spotted georgette, is perfect for sewing up some luxurious nightwear. Depending which pattern you choose, you may need to add some additional fabric – the perfect chance for some pattern clashing if that’s your thing! Here’s some pattern inspiration for you:
- Liesl + Co Wynwood Robe and Sleep Shorts
This pattern includes a simple shawl-collar robe that can be lengthened or shortened as you see fit. The sleep shorts have an elasticised waist and curved shaping with an outer facing, which is perfect for adding a feature by using a contrast fabric.
2) Tilly and the Buttons Fifi Pyjamas
Fifi is a lovely set for lounging at home or wearing to bed. The camisole is cut on the bias to create a flowing shape, with soft pleated cups, a gently shaped princess seam back, and bias binding straps. The shorts have a narrow stitched-in elastic waistband and cheeky curved hems. Oh là là!
3) Vogue Nightwear V1834
The V1834 sewing pattern from Vogue includes a loose fitting, raglan sleeved robe, belt, camisole, slip, elastic waist bias cut shorts and semi-fitted trousers. There is also the opportunity to add some fancy trimmings to this set, or perhaps you could use the georgette as the accent with a plain satin for the main fabric?
4) Megan Nielsen Reef Camisole and Shorts Set
The relaxed fit of the Reef set is ideal for sleep or casual wear. The bias cut camisole features a v-neckline and a crossover yoke in the back. The shorts have an elastic waist, pockets, curved or straight hemline and two rises. Perhaps you could use the georgette for the camisole and a plain, more stable fabric for the shorts.
5) Sew Over It – Sylvia Robe
The Sylvia Robe is the perfect piece for layering in style. With varying length options, Sylvia has potential way beyond nightwear! Ideal for summer holidays, Sylvia also makes a beautiful beach cover-up or fabulous festival attire (add some trim to really take it up a notch!) This pattern is the perfect canvas for having fun with fabrics – whatever you choose, you can really make a statement with Sylvia.
