The Agnes Top

Having said all that, September means that Autumn is on it’s way! As I mentioned in my last post, this makes me very excited.

This top is perfect for getting all comfy and cosy. I have to admit, this is actually my second attempt at the Agnes top by Tilly and the Buttons. I had bought a lovely cream knit fabric with little grey spots back in March. But I don’t think it had quite enough stretch in it, I made it according to my measurements but when I went to put it on… nope! Not gonna work! Not leaving the house in it! It was obscenely tight.

So when I came to making this one, I went up a size and did a full arm adjustment – whilst the sleeves fit perfectly, it was just a tad too big across the shoulders. At least its wearable.

Yep… this is exactly what my face has been doing in the making of this top! GAH!! You can see here where the shoulders are sloping down my arms slightly.

I will endeavor to make this top to fit me perfectly! I have a lovely aqua coloured fabric ready to go, where I will grade between 2-3 sizes from the narrow shoulder down to large hips and use my altered arm pattern piece. I wear quite a lot of these tops in the winter to layer up, so I’m looking forward to making more of these. I love the variation of the pattern with the ruched sweetheart neckline.

Whilst we were taking these photos near my friends house we had an inquisitive little visitor keen to get in on the action

Very cute, ginger cat and black jeans though… not the best combination! But JUST SO FLUFFY!!!

I will keep you posted on the progress of my next Agnes top, keep your fingers crossed for me.
