Chiffon is a delicate and beautiful fabric that has the potential to create some stunning garments, however it may not be a fabric you are used to sewing with, and therefore pattern inspiration may not immediately jump out at you. We’re hoping that these suggestions will help you on your way.
A close fitting bodysuit with the option to add a contrasting fabric, this month’s chiffon will be perfect for creating some floaty sleeves that make a real statement!
A versatile, loose fitting top with two neckline options and three hem options, for a total of six different silhouettes. With very simple design lines, this beginner-friendly pattern is the perfect canvas to showcase your stunning chiffon.
The Auvers is a top designed for very lightweight woven fabric (i.e. chiffon!). In the front, two halves cross diagonally to create a V neckline. Elastic is applied on the bottom front to create a blouson effect, which will be stunning in chiffon, and the back has a shirttail hem – beautiful details to enhance an otherwise simple top.
A pattern of two halves – a slim fitting under layer, with a boxy, oversized over layer that is perfect for a lightweight fabric like chiffon! You’d need to go for a short sleeve, however, as those long slim sleeves wouldn’t work in a delicate woven fabric. Although you could go for a contrast by adding a stretch fabric for the sleeves.
A feminine blouse, which will be perfect made up in a delicate fabric like chiffon, features pretty pleats from the neckline and a small slit in the back. This sleeveless blouse with a small collar will be perfect in those warmer months or will look equally nice under a light jacket or blazer.
