February’s Make of the Month comes from Lisa who put the reverse check denim from October’s Sew Retro box to use making this gorgeous pinafore dress.
A few weeks ago I went to the theatre with a couple of friends, to see The Buddy Holly Story in case you were wondering! We decided to go out for dinner first as well. Queue the old “I have nothing to wear” dilema. It was the middle of January so it was cold and I wanted to wear jeans and boots for warmth, and also comfort as those theatre seats are teeny tiny.
We all know how much I love a jumpsuit. And dungarees. Given the choice (which is usually most days) I will happily relive my childhood wardrobe days and wear an all-in-one outfit. I love the ease of them – it pretty much is all I need to think about, looks like I made an effort (even if I didn’t) and also works really well with my figure.
So February… the month of love! Last year I did Galentines Day and I did the traditional Valentines day a couple of years before that. So what for this year? This year is all about showing yourself some love. These boxes are just for you after all, the gift you give yourself every month so I’m here to celebrate that with these beautiful boxes “To Me, Love Me”.
Welcome to a new segment on this here old blog! Every month in the magazine that is included in my sewing subscription boxes I interview one of my lovely subscribers to find out more about them, why they chose to subscribe to their particular box and what they have enjoyed making. Decembers interview was with the fabulous Tina who you can find on Instagram @tinalovesmetal.
Well, can you believe it, I’m back again! It was only a couple of months ago I was here as Hayley’s Subscriber of the Month, and now I am here with Make of the Month! It was such a lovely surprise this week to receive a message from Hayley telling me how much she loved my most recent SewHayleyJane Make!
For January’s “Crafternoon Tea” boxes I teamed up with the fabulous Emma from Emma Block Illustration who created the most beautiful illustration as an exclusive to SewHayleyJane subscribers. The print features three lovely ladies surround by tea, cake and sewing – my three favourite things! I interviewed Emma to find out a bit more about her.
Jumpsuits have made quite the fashionable comeback over the last few years and for many have become a staple part of their wardrobe.
This has definitely been reflected in the sewing pattern industry with new jumspuit patterns being released all the time, and to suit many different fabric types.
One thing I’d like to think that I’m good at is being able to visualise how fabric will look as a certain garment. I can just look at fabric and know instantly what it should become, and what it would…
