To Me, Love Me
So February… the month of love! Last year I did Galentines Day and I did the traditional Valentines day a couple of years before that. So what for this year? This year is all about showing yourself some love. These boxes are just for you after all, the gift you give yourself every month so I’m here to celebrate that with these beautiful boxes “To Me, Love Me”.
Luxury Box
Unless you have been living under a rock I’m sure it won’t have escaped your notice that indie pattern brand powerhouse Tilly and the Buttons released their first range of cotton jerseys in partnership with Craft Cotton Co and when I saw the black base fabric with hands making heart shapes (bonus the nails are all painted different pastel shades) I knew it was going to be perfect!
The fabric is gorgeous, soft but with some decent structure so is going to help keep you cosy until we eventually drift into spring. I currently have some on my sewing table that will become an Agnes/Moneta dress and I cannot wait to be wearing it.
To pair with this fabric the pattern this month is the Sointu Tee from Named Patterns. A loose fitting top with wide sleeves, a rounded v-neck and a wide belt that wraps twice around the waist. Make it in the Tilly fabric for a fun and playful garment or make in a plain colour for office appropriate wear that is still nice and comfy.
Classic and Mini Boxes
The fabric in the Classic (2.5m) and Mini (1m) is a gorgeously soft brushed jersey in a mustard colour with roses and dots printed. Everyone deserves a bunch of roses on the 14th February but they don’t necessarily have to be in a vase of water! This fabric is so cosy, I’m planning a wrap dress with this one as it has a decent amount of stretch to it as well.
The fat quarters this month called Love Story from Craft Cotton Co are a perfect match to the rest of the fabrics. I’m hoping to start making some fat quarter projects for the blog and YouTube soon so have some plans for this set.
Every box also has a length of Great British Stitcher ribbon. I hear that the GBSB will be back on our screens soon so this is a little nod to that. I love the idea of using small pieces of ribbon like this to make tags for the inside of your clothes.
As well as the 100m reel of Gutermann thread and two heart shaped rock candies each box also has a lovely new seam ripper. I always forget that these can go blunt and need a refresh every now and then.
Inside the Classic and Luxury boxes there is a beautiful notebook from the lovely ladies at Crafty Sew & So. They launched a new range of sewing themed gifts and stationary towards the end of last year which I was able to get my hands on and have been using them every week for my notes. But they will be so useful for jotting down all your sewing plans, doodles and measurements.
As always I cannot wait to see what you make. Remember if you post your makes on Instagram #sewhayleyjanemakes or on Facebook you could be in with a chance of winning Make Of The Month and being featured in the magazine.
