A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Animal Magic

Today is indeed the day that the May boxes have started arriving, and as always I am totally in love with them.

The theme for this month didn’t actually come to me until almost the very last minute, I just couldn’t decide on what I wanted this month to be.

Then I stumbled across the gorgeous tape measures from Nose To Tail and the theme was set. These 300cm beauties have been included in the Luxury and Classic Boxes this month and features the lengths of 50 different animals, from the tiny Gold Frog to the Komodo Dragon.

To replace the tape measure, the Mini Boxes include a length of gorgeous animal print ribbon, such as cute little paw prints or sweet spring bunnies. Each box also includes a set of snap fasteners and Gutermann thread to match the main fabric.

The fabric that went into the Mini and Classic Boxes this month was this gorgeous blue 100% cotton poplin with white swallows printed in random directions. This is such a great summer fabric for making lightweight shirts, shorts and dresses. I’ve kept some of this back for my self and am planning to try out the McCalls 7094 pattern that came free in the most recent issue of Love Sewing magazine.

The Luxury Boxes this month come with 3.4 meters of “Mothlike Shadows” from the Nightfall collection by Art Gallery Fabrics, which is gorgeous 100% premium cotton. This fabric will make some stunning dresses, including the English Tea Dress from Simple Sew Patterns included in the boxes.

When using both the fabrics this month, keep in mind that they are 44 inches wide.

There are two different sets of fat quarters in the boxes this month, both equally as gorgeous. The top set has the cutest little kitty designs, I’m totally in love with that purple paw print piece. The bottom set are built around the doves, which look like they’ve been appliquéd on, so pretty!

As always, I like to include an extra little treat in the boxes for you to enjoy whilst swooning over all the pretties, and this month was a no brainer! It had to be a little packet of Cadbury’s Animals biscuits.

Remember to get that fabric straight in the wash so that it’s ready for you to use, click this link to see the care instructions.

Let me know what you’re initial thoughts are for using the fabric.

Happy Sewing!
