A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Midnight Garden

I love a floral print, but at this time of year they aren’t necessarily the easiest thing to wear as they can often be very summery and when you are in the depths of winter it just doesn’t quite work.

However, with bold prints and colours on a dark background they suddenly become so much more wearable in the colder months with a bit of careful garment planning. A long-sleeved blouse with jeans pairs easily with some knitwear on top, or worn under a denim pinafore-style dress with leggings and boots and you’re all set.

This month’s fabrics are just the ticket, dark and moody florals on a black base, let’s take a look.

Luxury Box

The beautiful cotton lawn in the Luxury boxes features a small red, blue, pink and yellow floral print on a black background. The cotton is buttery soft and with 3.5m in the boxes there is plenty to play with.

I paired it with The Culottes pattern from The Avid Seamstress, a pleated wide-leg trouser with in-seam pockets and an invisible zip. You could easily make these full length if the mid length isn’t right for you.

The supplementary fabric in the Luxury and Classic boxes is this pretty chiffon with blue and cream flowers. Whilst most would choose a floaty garment like a cami top or blouse for a chiffon just wait until you see how Esther used it to make an incredible bag!

Classic and Mini Boxes

In the Classic and Mini boxes this month is this incredible paisley print cotton poplin. The oranges and purples pop so brightly against the black background, it really is so beautiful!

We love notebooks for jotting down our sewing plans, how pretty are these mini pocketbooks inside the Luxury and Classic boxes? There were 4 different colour variations but all were just so pretty.

Of course every box includes our inspirational magazine featuring interviews from our wonderful sewing community, pattern reviews and suggestions for the fabrics in your boxes and so much more! How amazing does Liz look in the patchwork dress she made using the black dobby cotton from Octobers boxes to piece it all together?
