All That Jazz
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Decembers boxes are bringing the glitz, the glam, the sparkles and all that jazz!
I’ve been looking forward to putting together a sparkly box all year and sequins are definitely having a moment this season. However, 3.5m of sequin fabric doesn’t quite fold nice and tidy into our little boxes so I had to think… outside of the box!
Luxury Box
Luckily I found the perfect solution in the form of “The Ritz” gold sparkly viscose jersey from Lady McElroy. This fabric is dreamy – it has a lighter and darker side but both bring the sparkles so you can choose which you want to be the right and wrong side. It has gorgeous drape and stretch making it perfect for all manner of festive frocks.
I paired it with the Evie Dress and T-Shirt from Coralie Bijasson, a gorgeous pattern with an incredible 20 possibilities from dresses, to t-shirts and tanks with a variety of sleeve options as well as the choice of a tie or fabric ring at the neckline to create a beautiful shape.
The Luxury and Classic boxes also included 1m of red sequin mesh. The mesh itself is glitter but the addition of tiny little sequins gives it so much sparkle! I think this fabric would work so well as contrast sleeves or for creating appliqué embellishments.

This time I asked for a sparkly sewing sticker perfect for Christmas and she got it spot on! Use this sticker to adorn your sewing machine and give it a little face lift!
Classic and Mini Boxes
This fabric! It has a beautiful subtle sparkle all over the surface of the dusky blue viscose – isn’t it pretty? The perfect fabric to turn into a floaty blouse to pair with jeans and heels for an outfit that’s comfortable but just a little bit elevated! It would also look gorgeous as so many dresses as well or even wide-legged trousers or culottes. So many options!
All the boxes also included a festive fat quarter – perfect for a cute little Christmas project, 2m of silver ribbon, chocolate hearts, Gutermann thread and of course the SHJ magazine!
