Glitz & Glam
The past few years I’ve taken more of a novelty Christmas route for the December boxes but this year I’ve gone in a slightly different direction, opting for some seriously luxurious fabrics perfect for making a glamorous party outfit for the festive season.
Ok, so there a touch of novelty in the fat quarters… but that’s what fat quarters are for right? Plus, what is more glamorous than a winter skiing break in the mountains? (Having never been skiing I may well have higher expectations than some!)
Luxury Box
Inside the Luxury Box this month is this gorgeous (and extremely difficult to photograph) silver metallic viscose. The reverse of the fabric that would be worn next to the skin is so soft and on the right side this seemingly plain fabric has silver metallic threads running throughout that turns it into a real dazzler!
Paired with this months pattern, The Ready to Party Dress from My Handmade Wardrobe will have you dancing the night away. This great pattern has options for either a full skirt or a wrap pencil skirt and the choice of a scoop or sweetheart neckline.
Classic and Mini Boxes
Warning, this fabric is going to want stroking by anyone who glimpses it!! This gorgeous silky velvet satin (polyester) in dark gold is so beautiful, drapey and feels amazing. It has a really fine velvet texture to it and will make a beautiful floaty top or dress for the party season. It’s definitely calling out to any Ogden cami enthusiasts but I also think it would be great as a cover up/kimono style top to add a little glitz to a plain outfit!
I’ve teamed up with Happy Fabric this month and every Classic and Luxury box will find an A4 sheet of their Happy Glitter Vinyl in red or green. This iron on vinyl will give you the chance to give a new lease of festive life to an old jumper or t-shirt. Simply draw onto the reverse and cut out shapes or letters than follow the instructions included to transfer the shapes onto your fabric. I’m planning to personalise Christmas stockings with mine!
As well as the gorgeous ski resort fat quarters from Craft Cotton Co, every box has 2m of gold cord trim, a concealed zip and a reel of Gutermann thread to match the main fabric.
Last but not least, what is Christmas without gold coins?!
Happy Christmas Crafting everyone!
