A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Merry & Bright

Unfortunately after the chaos of moving house, getting ready for Christmas and getting these boxes shipped, we were then struck by illness over Christmas and New Year so I just never got around to photographing these boxes.

Never mind, better late than never eh?!

I was so excited when Jocelyn from Whim Wham Buttons got in touch with me about including their gorgeous hand crafted buttons in a future box. I was all set to propose a spring themed box with their floral buttons when she suggested a Christmas set featuring the most gorgeous, vintage-feel Father Christmas and snowman decals. These buttons are hand crafted at her home in Stoke-on-Trent and are so delightful!

The Luxury Box contains up to 3.5m of the prettiest cotton fabric from Art Gallery, called Winterberry Spice from the Little Town collection. I love the colours! Team it with one of the newer offerings from Tilly and the Buttons the Stevie Top and Dress is a super simple shift style garment, perfect for concealing those mince pies… and having another!

The Classic and Mini boxes had 2.5m or 1m of this super festive cotton, in either icy blue or bright red. I’ve already seen a perfect pair of pyjamas made in time for Christmas Day in this fabric but I am also hoping there were some lovely vintage style dresses – 50s style and novelty print are a match made in heaven.

Rather excitingly, December saw the very first Sew Hayley Jane magazine inside the boxes!! I’ve been busy working on getting this ready since the summer and am so proud of it and looking forward to growing it and making it bigger and better. For the last two years I have been hand writing postcards to all my lovely subscribers, which has been amazing, but as SHJ grows it just isn’t possible any more, especially if I want to avoid carpal tunnel.

The magazine is going to feature interviews with the designers and makers whose products are inside the boxes as well as with subscribers themselves. There will also be a make of the month, so if you have made something from the fabric in the boxes and would like to be considered you can post you pictures to Facebook or post them to Instagram with the hashtag #sewhayleyjanemakes

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year!
