A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Sail Away

So, when I planned these boxes the weather was fabulous and I was gearing up for three months of sunshine. I know, so naive!

But hopefully I have at least brought a little sunshine to your front door this week.

I think we can safely say that this month has a bit of a nautical theme to it. So I’m going to “dive straight in” and tell you a little more about each of the boxes.

Let’s start with the Luxury Box. I got in touch with the lovely people at Girl Charlee UK and was able to snag you this gorgeous anchor print hacci sweater knit which will not be released on their website until later this year. I have to admit I was super excited to be able to bring you something that no one else will have yet!

This fabric is a great, lightweight knit, perfect for making kimonos, dresses, cover-ups and sweaters. So when you need something to keep the chill at bay when the sun goes down after a barbecue this will be fantastic.

The pattern that comes with the Luxury box this month is the fabulous Ebony T-shirt and Dress from Closet Case Patterns featuring three different lengths, two neckline options and short, three-quarter or long length sleeves making it a super versatile pattern.

In the Mini and Classic boxes you will find a length of beautiful anchor print chambray fabric. This will make some gorgeous summer outfits, I can definitely see some lovely fitted shirts and shirtdresses in this fabric as well as skirts and trousers.

I love the fat quarters, with fabulous nautical prints of rope, compasses and chevrons. These will make some fabulous summer accessories for any garden or beach parties you might be planning, from tote bags, to scatter cushions and bunting.

The extra goodies in these boxes come in the form of a packet of six mother of pearl buttons from Merchant and Mills. Mother of pearl is a material that is found on the inside of certain shells such as oyster shells and molluscs. One of the greatest childhood pleasures during a trip to the seaside was building a collection of little shells and making “art” in the sand with them.

Each box also contains a set of needles for hand sewing and, of course no trip to the seaside is complete without some sweet treats such as a stick of rock!

I am so pleased with how these boxes have come together and cannot wait to see what you think of them. There were quite a few of them this month…

Pssst… I have a couple of extra boxes this month. If you would like to purchase a one off send me an email hayley@sewhayleyjane.com – first come, first served!
