A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Spring Has Sprung

Oh these boxes are just bursting with spring beauty! Interestingly these boxes took a few twists and turns before finally settling on it’s theme but I am so happy with how they turned out and I think we have some really beautiful and interesting fabrics inside this month.

One thing that was always going to be in the March boxes were the unique and incredibly handy seam circles from Jenerates. Jen got in touch with me a few months ago to tell me about these wooden discs that allow you to accurately add seam allowance to your patterns. A few pattern companies don’t include seam allowance in their patterns so you have to trace them and add the SA yourself, with the seam circles you just pop your pencil into the middle and roll the edge of the disc along the pattern.

You can purchase a full set from Jen’s website (along with wooden sunflower labels raising money for Ukraine) but for our boxes this month Jen has created a bespoke set of 1.5cm and 1cm seam circles the come in a sweet little tin to keep them safe.

Luxury Box

I think I might have actually rubbed my hands with glee when I saw this fabric, the colours are just incredible! This is a beautiful viscose lawn from Lady McElroy called “Magenta Haven” and is bursting with purples, pinks, red and green flowers on a very dark navy background.

To go with it is the sweet Zoé blouse and dress pattern from Atelier Scämmit who are debuting in the boxes this month. This French pattern company creates beautiful designs in gorgeous packaging and the Zoé is no different. With 4 variations you can choose to make a dress or top, with or without sleeves with a little ruffle hem.

Classic and Mini Boxes

Something a little fun and quirky in the Mini and Classic boxes this month. This cotton poplin comes in two colourways, pink and grey or yellow and blue. Each featuring gorgeous springy flowers on top of a large spot design which gives me real 60’s/Mary Quant vibes and I think will be perfect for making a cute little shift dress, culottes or maybe even a little pair of shorts for when the sun really comes out to play!

These absolutely gorgeous fat quarters from Craft Cotton Co are called “Grow Where You Are Planted” and are definitely brining the spring vibes. I love the wildflower seed packets on a peachy background! Watch out for Tamlyn’s Gardening Apron tutorial coming later this month!

Every box also includes a 14″ or 9″ concealed zip and 100m reel of top quality Gutermann thread, and of course the sweet treat plus a bumper issue SHJ magazine… I can’t believe this is issue 40!
