Summer Meadow
This gorgeous and iconic country estate was the setting for ITV’s Downton Abbey – slight super fan over here!
After touring inside the house we walked around the grounds and there was planted the most gorgeous wild flower meadow, the largest I’ve seen. It was spectacular. All I wanted to do was lay down amongst the flowers and watch the clouds go by.
So all the beautiful goodies in the boxes this month are inspired by that scenario. Surround yourself with these stunning florals.
Luxury Box
I have been wanting to use these gorgeous fabrics from French company Frou Frou for ages now and the time was finally right this month. The beautiful Liberty-like floral cottons came in two different colour ways – the lovely pale blue background with with white, grey and pink flowers or a creamy background with pink and purple flowers. Both equally as beautiful and perfect for so many projects.
I’ve paired it with the Nina Lee Carnaby Dress – a classic shift style dress that can be made with or without sleeves and comes with the all important pockets in the skirt. The dress requires a 20cm exposed zip so I’ve included one of those for you too. See out the last of the summer by pairing this pattern and fabric together, and then chuck on a chunky cardi and tights as it starts to get cooler.
Classic and Mini Box
I was so excited to receive this stunning viscose fabric, it arrived pretty much the day after I ordered it so I even had time to cut a length for myself and get it washed and sewn up before even making a start on prepping the boxes – I don’t think that’s ever happened before!! It has a deep purple/blue background with little pink flowers blowing in the breeze and the most gorgeous drape that just gets better after washing!
The Classic box also includes a 41cm concealed zip and a 20cm zip in the Mini box along with a matching reel of Gutermann thread and these beautiful fat quarters – don’t the colours just go gorgeously together?
Finally I was super excited to get in touch once more with Jocelyn from Whim Wham buttons to get these 4 “Joy” buttons for the Classic and Luxury boxes this month. These ceramic buttons are hand made and painted in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK and there is an interview with them in the magazine too, I loved finding out the process.
Oh, not forgetting the treat this month. I have a lavender farm fairly local to me in the New Forest that has a sweet tea room and the most beautiful wild-flower garden that has got bigger and bigger over the last few years. So I included a tea bag from the English Tea Shop that made me think of that – white tea, blueberry and elderflower!
