Tropic Like It’s Hot
These boxes are definitely bringing the sunshine this July… which is more than is happening outside!
Way back in January I had a little planning session laying out some themes for the year and was toying with a tropical idea when an email landed in my inbox from the lovely Carly at Roo-tid, an independent fabric company, showing me the upcoming summer collection “Fluidity”.
As soon as I saw the stunning prints I knew they would be perfect for my tropical idea and settled on the stunning “Rhythm”, a bright green and pink eco-friendly viscose – the colours were just what I had in mind.
Let’s take a look at what else was inside this months boxes.
Luxury Box
As I already mentioned the beautiful fabric, let’s take a look at the pattern. A sweet little sundress called Poleen from Lise Tailor, this dress will see you all through the summer. It features shirring on the back and a gathering detail in the centre front giving you the option to show a little skin or go for full coverage.
The supplementary fabric in this months Luxury and Classic boxes is a vibrant daisy print polycotton – as a narrow width, sturdy fabric it’s perfect for bags, bag linings, summers hats and outdoor cushion covers to bring a little club tropicana to your own back garden.
Hand’s up if yours is a gin and tonic with lemon slices?
Our lovely gift are these adorably cute lemon slice stud earrings from Sapphire Frills, last year we had watermelons from this lovely sister-made company, and this year it’s lemons. Maybe in a few years time we’ll have the full fruit basket!
Classic and Mini Boxes
This is when it really all started coming together! How perfect is this fabric? A gorgeous, wide, cotton featuring tropical flowers, leaves and toucans on a black background. The colours are so vibrant and pop so much against the dark background – I’m seeing shirts, shirt-dresses, trousers, blazers… so many options!
Of course every box isn’t complete without a reel of matching Gutermann thread and the magazine full of ideas and inspiration on every page!
As always I absolutely cannot wait to see what you all make with your fabrics this month! So don’t forget to share them on Instagram or in our private SewHayleyJane Facebook community page.
