Dream A Little Dream
Octobers boxes feel just a little bit special for a number of reasons, they mark SewHayleyJane’s 5 year anniversary, they are the first to go out from our brand spanking new studio and, I hadn’t actually realised until Bruna (packing extraordinaire) pointed out, the theme was incredibly apt!
Not to get too deep or anything but 6 years ago I had a little dream of starting my own business, something that would help and inspire other sewists and to encourage them out of their comfort zones a little. To build a community of amazing people who loved fabric and sewing as much as me and not to be too blunt but to make a living out of it.
That dream has become a reality and 5 years later we are still going strong and I can’t wait to see what the next 5 years looks like.
But anyway, let’s crack on with the boxes shall we? Believe it or not that was not the inspiration for the theme this month, I wanted to go for something with a sort of dreamy, mystical theme. Halloweeny… but not halloween. It wasn’t until I found the Fat Quarters for this month that it all started to take shape.
Luxury Boxes
Octobers fabric for the Luxury boxes had to come from the Spooky and Sweet collection by Art Gallery Fabrics, it was tough choice but I wanted one that wasn’t too niche and could be worn all year around. So I settled on the Stars Aligned cotton, a gorgeous pale purple fabric with a delicate star print.
The pattern I chose to go alongside the fabric was the Claudette trousers from Dovetailed London, an amazing wide leg trouser pattern that works amazingly with a more structured fabric. I highly recommend checking out the stunning range of African wax print fabrics at Dovetailed for future iterations of the pattern.
Classic and Mini Boxes
Oh this fabric is seriously dreamy, the colours are beautiful, it’s gorgeously soft and the delicate little butterflies dancing around the fabric are so pretty. The fabric is a double gauze in either a blue or mauve colour way and is so scrummy. I might finally make my self a co-ordinating pj set of dreams!
The fat quarters are called “Unicorn Spring” by Craft Cotton Company and feature florals, unicorns and… glitter!! I don’t know about any little ones in your life but my daughter is in love with unicorns, so I better get on with some Christmas makes.
October also sees the return of Little Rosy Cheeks labels inside the Classic and Luxury boxes. Victoria had the perfect “You Deserve To Dream” labels which are the perfect finishing touch to your garments.
To finish off the boxes nicely each one also includes a reel of Gutermann thread to match the main fabric, a selection of sew on poppers and a bag of magic stars!
