Hocus Pocus
In the six years I have been sending these boxes this is the first time I have included a Halloween theme in October and I am very excited about it! I really enjoy Halloween and of course this year has seen the release of the new Hocus Pocus movie.
I was obsessed with the first film as a child of the 90s and loved the new movie. So it seemed fitting to make this the theme of this months boxes.
Now, I didn’t want to go too novelty with the fabrics and send you something that you wouldn’t be able to wear the rest of the year, so everything has a subtle nod to halloween whilst being totally wearable!
Classic and Mini Boxes
The main fabric in the Classic (2.5m) and Mini (1m) boxes is a gorgeous quality cotton in either blue, purple or emerald green with a geometric print that gives a bit of a spider web look. This is such a lovely fabric, has a slight silky feel to it but being cotton is going to be so easy to work with.
Each box also includes a set of two spiced pumpkin latte scented wax melts from Chalk and Cheese, a candle and wax melts company local to me in Basingstoke. These honestly smell so good, and are perfect for this time of the year.
The fat quarters this month are seriously cute – a set called “Curious Cats” from Craft Cotton Co in beautiful shades of green, blue and pink they depict cheeky little cats getting up to mischief.
Luxury Box
We have gone swishy in the Luxury Boxes this month with a stunning viscose challis lawn from Lady McElroy called Cobra Corsage – Noir. It has the most beautiful drape and has a large floral print along with snakes, butterflies and bugs – surely the perfect items for brewing up a magic potion.
This months featured pattern in the Luxury boxes is the Vienne blouse from Size Me Sewing patterns. A beautiful raglan sleeve blouse with a delicate and unique front frill making it perfect for office or lunch with friends.
The Classic and Luxury boxes also see a welcome return from Samantha Claridge with her fabulous “Signs of the Sewdiac” astrological chart. Check out Sammy’s blog post to find out which sign of the sewdiac you are. Here’s mine;
The Shears ( Gemini ) have the power to either cure with words or kill with swords. They are fascinating, resourceful and charming. Adept at blending into different groups based on the vibe and energy they perceive. They never get stuck in the past, or what should have been, instead they move forward with optimism and the ability to look on the bright side.
