A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Honey Honey

Whilst September may be the month we all start thinking about those back to school vibes I’m keeping things very sweet over here with this months stunning boxes!

Where this theme started is actually a bit of a mystery to me, I can’t remember what the initial inspiration was but it all came together in the most perfect way. These boxes have a gorgeous bee and honey theme to them and are full of dreamy and delicious fabrics and goodies so let’s dive straight in!

Classic and Mini Boxes

The fabric this month is completely different to anything we’ve had before, it’s a floral cotton jersey with a waffle (or honeycomb) texture. It’s quite a stable fabric for a jersey making it pretty versatile and great for using with some woven patterns as well as knits. It came in three different colours – sage, teal and navy each with a ditsy floral print.

Luxury Boxes

One of my absolute favourite fabrics in the boxes this month, a viscose twill for Atelier Brunette in a beautiful ochre colour that looks and drapes like honey with a little twig motif throughout. This fabric works perfectly with the latest Tilly and the Buttons pattern – the Marnie Dress and Blouse to make a stunning autumn garment. This pattern has lots of extra options that you can pick and choose from to make it your own including bishop sleeves, shoulder and collar frills and pleats across the front and sleeves.

I was “buzzing” when Liz Harry got in touch to say she would love to design some enamel buttons for the boxes, after the success of her stunning Christmas sewing machine pins last year I jumped at the chance! This little set of 4 buttons include a bee, pot of honey, beehive and flower and will be the perfect finishing touch to your projects.

As well as all that goodness each box also included 2m of 1cm wide black elastic, a 100m reel of matching Gutermann thread, the SHJ magazine and a mini Cadbury’s Crunchie bar!
