Pastel Perfection

About a month ago I posted a poll on Instagram asking what everyone thought of me including solid fabric every now and then as well as all the amazing prints I usually send. The results came in a staggering number were really up for it so that’s the direction I took this month.
I had already thought a pastel themed box would be amazing for April, with Easter on its way everyone starting to think about their spring and summer wardrobe. I first found the Luxury fabric, a gorgeous cotton jersey with a lilac background and a spots in a stripe print perfect for this time of year. So the challenge was then to find a gorgeous quality solid colour fabric for the Classic and Mini boxes. Read on to see what I chose.
Luxury Box

This cotton jersey is so soft and will make some really great tops and dresses this season but I have paired it with the “Spring In London” slouchy t-shirt pattern from relatively new pattern company Seasons of East. I received an email from Carol a few months back and then spotted them at the Stitch Festival at the beginning of March and thought now was the perfect time to introduce them to you. The patterns are packaged in reusable cotton bags with scenes of London printed on them.

I wanted something a little different in the boxes this month and thought how lovely it would be to include something that smells amazing that you can have on whilst your sewing. Enter the Beaulieu Candle Company. A local to me business in the New Forest (pronounced byoo-lee) making gorgeously scented soy wax candles and melts. The Luxury and Classic box each got a set of 6 pale pink heart shaped melts in Rock Salt and Driftwood, a really lovely fresh scent.
Classic and Mini Boxes

So, the solid fabric that went into the Classic and Mini boxes? A stunning viscose linen blend in either pale green or minty blue. The linen makes this fabric incredibly comfortable and lightweight to wear whilst the viscose stops it from creasing as much.

Every box also received two beautiful pencils from Maple and Grace in pastel green or pink with awesome sewing phrases printed on, a handy set of safety pins in different sizes and of course the 100m reel of Gutermann thread.

Finally the stunning fat quarters this month are from the Craft Cotton Company and called “Safari Plants” and are in beautiful shades of pastel greens and peaches.
As always I cannot wait to see what you make with your goodies in the boxes this month so don’t forget to share them on Facebook or Instagram with #sewhayleyjanemakes and you might be featured in the magazine as Make Of The Month!
