A monthly box of sewing goodies, delivered to your door

Really Wild

Up until a few months ago I didn’t think it was a trend I could get on board with.

I had images of me looking like Kat Slater (from Eastenders, a UK soap opera) especially if I dared to pair leopard print with a red lipstick.

But the more I saw it popping up on Instagram and on the highstreet the more my interest was piqued.

I went pretty bold with my first dip into the world of animal print with a bright red leopard print jersey Ebony T-Shirt from Closet Case Patterns. I wear it all the time so I’m really excited to bring you this Really Wild box of beauty.

Luxury Box

I am in love with this leopard print viscose crepe jersey and cannot wait to see some gorgeous garments made out of it. It has a lovely texture and drape and will look gorgeous paired with so many patterns. I can see it being a fitted wrap dress, a floaty maxi skirt and a simple t-shirt which is why I have included Tilly and the Buttons Nora Top.

If you are unsure on how to wear such a bold print than a loose fitting top, worn with classic jeans or tucked into a denim skirt is a great way to start. I am planning to get my version cut and sewn ASAP.

Classic and Mini Boxes

In these boxes you will find the most gorgeous slinky satin fabric – 1m in the Mini Box and 2.5m in the Classic. This fabric might test your patience as it is pretty slippery but the results are going to be so worth it. This fabric would look amazing as a simple cami top or paired with a tea dress pattern for a night out.

You could even make yourself some beautiful lingerie or a saucy little night time pj set. Any leftover scraps from these fabrics would look great as a hair scarf or tied around the handle of your handbag.

These gorgeous fat quarters from Craft Cotton Company are called Everglades and feature some really fun animal and foliage prints. I particularly love the white foliage print for a garment facing or pocket lining!

The Classic and Luxury boxes also include a handy little pot of tailors beeswax from Merchant & Mills. This stuff is great to run your thread through before hand stitching to help stop the thread from knotting and twisting. Every box also has a spool of Guttermann thread to match the fabric and a super cute wheel of butterfly head pins – perfect for your crafty projects!

As for the sweet treat? A little bag of Cadburys animal biscuits of course. More packs had to be purchased during packing week!

Happy Sewing everyone!
