Rest
January is the perfect time to hibernate and recover from the often exhausting December. That’s why I have put together a stunning box of fabrics and sewing goodies to help you do just that. Gorgeous fabrics that are a pleasure to sew and take your time over but that are perfect to wear whilst you slow down and rest.
This theme was inspired by the wonderful new collection of fabrics from Roo-Tid called Hibernate. “A collection full of warm, comforting tones, ready to welcome changes the season has to offer. A concept that encourages the art of slowing down, taking pleasure in solitude, daydreaming, contemplation, and learning to restore and repair. All in beautiful preparation for the mind and body to embrace the energetic months to come.”
Luxury Box
The fabric is a top quality 100% LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose twill. “Breeze” features a delicate leaf print against a warm navy backdrop and has the most beautiful weight and drape to it.
To pair with it this month I have include the Winnie Pyjama pattern from Merchant and Mills that came in two different size bands. The pattern includes a choice of trousers or shorts and a long or short sleeved button down shirt. Perfect for relaxing in during the long dark evenings of January.
I was thrilled to work once again with Gemma from Ginger Doodles Designs who you illustrated this fabulous book mark for the boxes this month. You might recognise Gemma as she is one of our regular writers in the magazine and on our blog. I love nothing better than cosying up in my PJs and a good book at the end of the day and having a cute book mark so much nicer then folding down the pages!!
Classic and Mini Boxes
I am always really excited when we can introduce a new type of fabric in the boxes and this months Classic and Mini Boxes have a lovely leopard print cotton pointelle in either mustard or cream. Pointelle has in the past mostly been known as vests and thermal underwear but with a print as gorgeous as this I believe it should make its way to the forefront and will be gorgeous made into T-shirts, long length tops and of course cosy pyjamas.
The fat quarters this month are from a collection called Green Vibes Only by Craft Cotton Co and feature lots of calming house plants and phrases such as “home is where the heart is” and “home sweet home”. Make sure to check out our upcoming fat quarter project next week – a book sleeve and book mark.
Finally every box also included a length of Gutermann thread as well as these cute needle threaders from Hemline Gold – so if you plan to recline on the sofa with a bit of hand sewing this month keep these close by for easy threading!
