Spots and Dots
The theme for August’s boxes actually came from a couple of different places that just worked together beautifully. I had my eye on the “Abstract Jungle” fat quarters from Craft Cotton Company for a while and was waiting for the perfect theme to tie in with them.
Then Ema from The Lemon Patch got in touch to tell me about her gorgeous label designs and if they were something I’d be interested in for the boxes. As soon as I saw the “Well I do love spots” labels it clicked and I knew they were the perfect match.
I didn’t want to go for your standard polka dots but wanted something a little different and I love what we came up with.
Luxury Box
The fabric in this months Luxury Box is a stunning geometric print cotton from Art Gallery Fabrics called Mosaico Pompei from Capri by Katarina Roccella. I love that the print was made up from lots of little mosaic dots to create the pattern.
I have paired it with the Amaya shirt from Made My Wardrobe, a beautiful blouse inspired by traditional folk designs in sizes 6-24. I think this would look lovely together but the pattern made in another plain fabric would also look so gorgeous with some embroidery.
The labels from The Lemon Patch are included in all the Classic and Luxury boxes and are just the perfect way to finish off a garment made in a spotty fabric.
Classic and Mini Boxes
This months main fabric in the Classic and Mini boxes is a beautiful double gauze in either denim blue or mauve and features a small gold dot print all over. We love a bit of double gauze at SHJ HQ and cannot wait to get some sewn up and into our wardrobes.
Along with the fat quarters ever box this month also included a matching reel of Gutermann thread, a concealed zip and a pack of jazzles to satisfy your sweet tooth. Not forgetting of course the amazing SHJ magazine.
