The October Box
When I finally decided that the first box was going to be released in October, there was really only one theme it could be in my mind. If you’re on any form of social media you can’t have failed to notice how excited everyone gets at the arrival of Autumn. The colours, the snuggly jumpers and socks, twinkly lights and pumpkin spice everywhere. This might be a good time to admit, between you and me, I really don’t like pumpkin spice latte’s. I know… terrible! But I do love everything else to do with this season.
And so, I have named this box Autumn Bliss.
Let’s see what’s inside those boxes shall we?
The Luxury Box was literally bursting at the seams.
The main fabric in the Luxury Box is 3.5meters of this gorgeous navy blue with a feather and leaf print knit fabric from Art Gallery Fabrics. At 152cm wide its a mix of 95% PIMA cotton and 5% spandex. It’s so beautiful and soft. Sadly I was unable to sneak a bit of this to keep for myself but I definitely think I’ll be revisiting these knits in the future.
To go alongside this fabric, although whether or not you choose to match this pattern with the fabric is entirely up to you, is the Ultimate Wrap Dress from Sew Over It. The wrap dress is such a classic style that suits most body shapes and in a knit fabric is incredibly comfortable to wear.
Can we just talk about those fat quarters for a minute? How adorable are those prints? You can’t get much more autumnal than woodland animals and orange tones. I don’t know about you, but I’m seeing a brightly coloured infinity scarf to wear when walking through crunchy leaves!
To go alongside all these pretties, this box also includes a 41cm invisible zip, in 20cm lace zip, matching thread and some coloured pearl head pins. There are also some very cute buttons included, keep reading to find out more about them.
I love the look of the lace zips, I think they add such a pretty touch to garments. I can’t wait to see all the different projects that these will be used in.
The Classic and The Mini Boxes are very similar, there’s just more of it in the Classic Box.
The main fabric is this gorgeous black rayon with floral print. I love the colours on this fabric and it drapes so beautifully. It’s 150cm wide making it suitable for so many dressmaking projects. I personally plan on using it to make the Alex shirt from Sew Over It’s Capsule Wardrobe collection.
Did you spot the extra little treat here? There had to be a little nod to Halloween in the boxes. Plus who doesn’t love to sew with a treat?
Now, onto the buttons. The reason they aren’t included in any of these photos is because they didn’t arrive until 11.30am on the day I had to send these boxes out. Not that I was stressing about it… much! I got the boxes ready to the point of being sealed up and was gearing myself up to send them out with the buttons to follow in a few days, it was typical luck. I think I probably frightened the postman when I heard him at the front door. I can’t tell you how happy I was when they arrived. Cue me and my husband frantically preparing the buttons, sealing up the boxes and hauling them off to the post office! It was worth it though, just look how cute they are!!
So there we go, the very first SewHayleyJane boxes have successfully left the head quarters and should be arriving on doorsteps already.
Now this is important, when your box arrives make sure the first thing you do is get your main fabric in the washing machine to take care of any shrinkage. There are no special washing instructions to go with them, but do it right now. Then it’s all set for you when you’re ready to sew!
I can not wait to see what you produce with the goodies in your box. Send me your pictures, upload them to social media and tag me in them, or use #sewhayleyjane and #sewhayleyjanemakes I want to see everything!
Happy Sewing!
