Six Projects From One Pack Of Fat Quarters

I love fat quarter bundles, a selection of 5 different prints that have all been designed to work together. And there are so many beautiful sets out there.

Traditionally cotton fat quarter bundles are used for quilting, but there is so much more you can do with them – from using them as contrast accents in your dressmaking for things like pocket bags, button plackets and collars to using them for small accessory projects.

We have loads of fat quarter projects on the blog but I have chosen 6 that you can get from just one set of fat quarters – 5 of them make great gifts with the final one being a gift bag to wrap them all up in.

To help you I’ve created a handy cutting guide with the measurements needed for each project which you can get straight into your inbox when you subscribe to my newsletter.

Project 1 – Make Up Bags

These are so incredibly easy to make and in my cutting guide I have included two make up bags as they make great gifts – especially for teachers at Christmas. Get the full tutorial here.

Project 2 – Reusable Make Up Wipes

Made using a soft terry towelling one one side and the fat quarters as a pretty top – you can make 12 of these pretty reusable face wipes which to keep your skin clean and fresh for days on end. Get the full tutorial (with a bonus storage bag) here.

Project 3 – Hair Scrunchies

These pretty little hair ties are perfect for keeping your locks in check and make a great stocking filler for any little ones in your life. You can make a whole set of 5 hair scrunchies with this guide – get the tutorial here.

Project 4 – Fabric Bookmark

I am an avid reader and I think a book hamper that included this sweet little fabric bookmark would make a great gift – add some tea, biscuits, a hot water bottle and of course a good book. This tutorial also includes a padded book case. The cutting guide includes one bookmark but I reckon you could squeeze out another! Get the tutorial here.

Project 5 – Lanyard

This is probably the quickest project on the list – easily made in about 15 minutes and really fun for anyone who has to wear a name badge to work or as somewhere to keep your keys. Add a cute label to amp up the fun. Get the tutorial here.

Project 6 – Gift Bag

Finally, you need something pretty to put your handmade gifts in, so why not make a reusable fabric gift bag? Use some pretty ribbon or trim to insert into the channel to tie it all up with a bow. Get the tutorial here.

So set aside an afternoon at your sewing machine, put on some background entertainment and set yourself up with drinks and snacks. By the end of the day you’ll have 6 gorgeous projects all sewn up ready to gift.
